One Thing That Should See More Screen Time In Shang-Chi 2

 Shang-Chi 2 is all but officially confirmed, and here's everything we know about its potential release date, story details, and returning cast. Shang-Chi was one of the first characters Marvel Studios planned to develop a movie for back when the studio took out its loan in the mid-2000s. Unfortunately, it wasn't until now that Shang-Chi finally managed to get his own solo film on the big screen.


Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings formally introduced Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way, bridging his story to that of the core franchise, and he was joined by his best friend Katy (Awkwafina), his sister Xialing (Meng'er Zhang), his father Wenwu (Tony Leung), his aunt Ying Nan (Michelle Yeoh), and more. Ultimately, it culminated in him going to Kamar-Taj and potentially being recruited to become an Avenger - or, at least being put on the Avengers' radar.


But that's only the beginning. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was clearly the first step for the character, and it ended in a such a way that sets up a huge future for him, Katy, Xialing, and the Ten Rings organization.


Shang-Chi 2 Release Date Info & Prediction

Although not yet announced, Shang-Chi 2 is practically guaranteed to happen. Marvel wanted to bet big on Shang-Chi, and taking all the fervor from audiences and critics into account, particularly those praising the direction and acting from the main stars, Shang-Chi 2 should be put into development in the near future. Given all the Phase 4 movies coming in the next few years, it's possible Shang-Chi 2 could release by late 2023 if the studio fast-tracks the sequel, or 2024 by normal circumstances.


Shang-Chi 2 Cast Prediction

Shang-Chi 2 would, of course, see Simu Liu return as Shang-Chi and Awkwafina as Katy, since they're the core duo in the first film and were brought into the world of superheroes by Wong. Meng'er Zhang should also return now that she's the head of the Ten Rings organization, even though she herself doesn't have the Ten Rings - her brother does. Other actors who could return are Michelle Yeoh and Benedict Wong, given their stories in the first film and connections to Shang-Chi himself.


Shang-Chi 2 Story Details: What We Know & What We Expect

Shang-Chi 2's story is the biggest wildcard. Nowadays, Marvel isn't setting up direct sequels anymore; instead, one movie may lead into a TV show, and vice versa. So, Shang-Chi 2 may not have anything to do with what actually happened in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. One thing that should see more screen-time in Shang-Chi 2, though, is Ta-Lo and the history of Shang-Chi's hidden world. There's so much there that remains unanswered, and him learning about his powers - not just those that come from the Ten Rings - would be crucial to his characterization. Beyond that, Shang-Chi may first return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, taking into account this film's post-credits scene, before he makes a full return in Shang-Chi 2.
