Helping Teenagers Produce Safe Online Video Content!

Are you at school, College or Uni and you spend your spare time and also some of your study time watching and posting online videos? Well let me tell you now you are not alone, did you know millions of children, teenagers, young and old, all over the world have found and become addicted to this great new hobby.

And the number joining is growing by the hour. Now before I get into the main bit of this article there are going to be some grownups who are shocked by this statement as they thought this was an adults only area of the net, but let me tell you this

Get a Life. The Kids and young people of today can and do produce some great video content far better at times than grownups and it is all legal YouTube and most general Online Video is open to anyone over 13.

Teenagers of today are great at making video and they are not afraid of trying new ideas and new edits. Us older ones can learn a great deal from the younger people out there. Instead of saying no we should help them all we can and advise them to the best we can. But Teenagers please read the next bits very carefully for they are written to keep you safe online and I hope will keep you out of trouble.

We were all young and free and full of fun and adventure and we nearly all had fun in and out of school with our mates. Now you make a fun video and you do something a bit silly and post it up online and you may think it was fun we had a good laugh and no one will see it. This is the big mistake young and old make because friends, family, teachers etc may and will see it. And what you and your mates think was a bit of harmless fun they could see and think something else. By all means have fun, but just think it through before you post online.

Some of the main items you should never film are: -

Underage Drinking

Doing Drugs

Committing Crimes

As I have mentioned before you should not be doing these things in the 1st place and you should never film it. You can have loads of fun and adventure without doing the above.

Another area where you need to be careful is doing a personal video blog. Now personal video blogs are fun and you can learn a great deal about video and filming when you do them. But you do need to be careful about what you say and do on them.

Never make fun of other people on them nor should you talk about them in a negative way.

Something else you need to look out for is this: You sit down and start your video blog and say oh Jessica sat by my boyfriend today in class she is going to pay for that. Now you might have meant she was not going to get an invite to your sweet 16th party, but say something did happen to Jessica the following week, and her parents or mates saw your video blog, fingers might point at you. I know it sounds silly, but please think before you shoot, and think again before you upload.

The last area you need to watch is your words and use of words, do not swear or be careful with how often you swear. And what Teenagers may use as a word it might mean something else to an older person.

Now I do not want to leave this as a negative article as have I have mentioned before the Teenagers of today are a great bunch of men and women, they have gifts and talents that us older ones should learn from. They are not afraid of the internet and online video. Their editing skills are fantastic and they are taking online video to the next level.

Please Teens and Young people just take the bits of advice above, and think about them before you shoot and upload your videos, if you do that then you will be safe and have loads of fun.

Good luck with your adventures in the Online Video World. And post your videos up online for us all to enjoy.
