What Type of Online Videos Bring in the Best Type of Visitors?

 



I think a good place to answer that question, is with me asking you a question. Which groups or channels do you go to when you get to YouTube? You could ask a few of your friend the same question and within a short space of time you will have you top hit list of online videos to make.


And now with all the advances of uploading online content to sites such as YouTube, your main challenge will be coming up with new ideas on what to make a video of.


With YouTube and the other online video sharing sites you are able to upload almost any type of video as long as you stick to the rules set down by the site. But a tip that I was told - only make the type of video that you would not mind your Grandma seeing or of it being on a top TV show and you being the producer. Stick to your own ethics and guidelines and those combined with YouTube's you will not go very wrong.


If you do a search on YouTube one of the top searched for and shown videos is that of video blogs. A video blog is the same as a normal blog with the only difference being instead of you writing it, you do a short video. Video blogs are really simple to make. Set up your camera, cell phone or webcam and shoot a simple short video of what happened in your life today or this week. Just shoot and upload, very little editing is needed. As you get more into it, you can start to play around with graphics, titles etc, but that is for a later time.


With video blogs there is just a small word of warning, be very careful of what details you give out, for instance it is far easy to say your full address when you are filming than when you are writing. Also do not film in front of a well known landmark if you do not want people to know where you live.


Having said that Video blogs are a fun and a fast way to go. Have a go.


One of the other popular online video sectors that is currently finding it's feet on YouTube etc is comedy videos. Comedy videos can be broken down into some main areas then each main area has tons of sub sections.


You have the normal standup comedy where male or female stand or sit in front of the camera and do their 10 minutes of fame. Another good area is comedy clips of your pets.


Again a big area is where you get to film a family member doing some thing silly or stupid and it just makes you laugh, so you post it up online to make the world laugh. A word of warning here, if you get other people on your video, please get their permission before you upload it.


Another major niche on YouTube and the other online hosting companies is "How To" Videos". These are real simple to do. You just set up your camera and turn it on and film yourself showing the world how to...do something. A good example may be, you are very good at doing the rubik cube, so you film yourself showing and telling others how to solve the puzzle. Or...you have a good way of carving a Turkey, set your camera up on Turkey Dinner day and show people.


At the end of the day what you shoot and upload is up to you, but also if you do not get the viewers to your videos you may need to tweak your ideas. As you need to ask yourself what and why am I producing these videos for.
