The Last Of Us 2 Game Actor Wants To Reprise Role

The Last of Us Part 2 video game voice and performance actor, Ian Alexander, recently shared that they want to reprise their role in The Last of Us season 2. The popular zombie-horror HBO television series is based on the award-winning PlayStation video game of the same name. Pedro Pascal stars as Joel Miller, a hardened black market smuggler who is tasked to transport 14-year-old orphan Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic United States to the Fireflies, a militant revolutionary faction that aims to save the world.

Speaking with Insider, Alexander explained that they wished to reprise their original game role in The Last of Us season 2. The actor portrayed Lev, a 13-year-old trans boy who was outcast from the religious fundamentalist survivor group known as the Seraphites. Alexander expressed their excitement about The Last of Us season 2 and hopes to return to the popular franchise as Lev. Read what Alexander said below:

"I was just so grateful that I was able to be a part of that franchise, and I'm so excited that we got picked up for season two. My fingers are crossed that I get to reprise my role as Lev."

As a result of the incredible success of The Last of Us season 1, the series was picked up for season 2 after only three episodes have aired. Show creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin previously explained that they do not intend to expand the narrative beyond the scope of the games, only adhering to the story presented in The Last of Us, The Last of Us Part II, and its tie-in comic book. However, Mazin insinuated that adapting the ambitious second game will likely require more than one season.

Released in 2020, The Last of Us Part II continues Joel and Ellie's story following the heart-wrenching conclusion of its predecessor. Set on a revenge quest, Ellie is taken to the heart of Seattle, Washington to find the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) and the Seraphites firmly in a state of war. In the middle of the chaos, Lev and his sister Yara must escape their own people due to Lev's gender identity being an affront to their belief system. With the Seraphites hot on their tail and the WLF looking to kill any "Scar" on sight, Lev and Yara find themselves protected by an unlikely ally.

Although Alexander gave a critically-acclaimed performance as Lev, they will likely not be able to reprise their role due to a significant age difference. Season 1 took nearly two years to write, film, and release on HBO. If The Last Of Us season 2, and a potential season 3, keeps a similar schedule, Alexander will be in their mid-20s by the time filming is underway. More than likely, Mazin and Druckmann will cast a much younger actor to portray Lev. However, as the creators have shown to take liberties with their adaptation, it is possible that Lev will be aged up to accommodate Alexander, allowing the actor to reprise the character they are so familiar with.
